The University of Arizona in Second Life

OSCR and UA Adjunct Assistant Professor Chris Johnson, have entered into an agreement with the New Media Consortium to sponsor The University of Arizona in Second Life, another advanced digital tool for students and faculty.

Second Life is one of the most advanced virtual worlds available today and provides students and instructors with a variety of tools and to create their own learning and social environments.

University of Arizona on Arizona Island will be to provide a place for students to meet and explore information about the University, a place for faculty to explore using Second Life to enhance learning, and a place to promote the research and cultural contributions of the University. This two-year experiment will explore how the University might take advantage of a virtual world and the determine the support necessary to maintain a presence in a world such as Second Life.

To visit Arizona Island, you must first set up a Second Life Account and download the Second Life client. Once you have established your avatar (your virtual representation in Second Life), you may visit the island.
