OSCR Sponsorship

OSCR has varying levels of sponsorship in order to use our resources.

Faculty!  Link students to this page if you want to share OSCR sponsorship information with them.

UA Affiliated - UA NetID
If you are a Student, Staff, or Faculty member of the University of Arizona with a valid UA NetID, you have a basic level of access to OSCR computer labs. You can use the OSCR computers, and reserve time on specific stations in the Multimedia Learning Lab.

Faculty Sponsorship
If you need to check out any of the gear from the MLL or VR Annex, you will need to have a faculty member sponsor you. To request faculty sponsorship simply fill out the faculty sponsorship form. Once you have been granted faculty sponsorship you can check out certain types of gear right away. Some gear such as DV Video camers and lighting kits require an extra workshop.

Faculty, and graduate students teaching classes, can sponsor their students to check out gear from the MLL or VR Annex. Faculty and graduate students teaching classes are automatically faculty-sponsored. Having automatic faculty-sponsorship does not exempt you from any additional requirements for gear checkout, such as the DV camera or Lighting workshops.

Sponsorship requests can take up to 48 hours for OSCR to process. After that period it will be up to your individual sponsor to approve your request. Please direct your sponsor to http://www.oscr.arizona.edu/request_sponsorship to approve your request. Get your requests in well before you need the gear.

Sponsorship is good only for the current semester. You will need to be sponsored each semester you want to check out gear.

DV Workshop
In order to checkout our Digital Video cameras, we require you to attend one of our DV Camera Workshops.

Lighting Workshop
In order to checkout our light kits, we require you to attend one of our Lighting Workshops.

Studio In-A-Box Workshop
In order to checkout our portable recording studio - Studio In-A-Box, we require you to attend one of our Studio In-A-Box Workshops.

Sponsorship for Instructional Support Gear
The MLL has some gear that is not checked out in general except to those taking classes with the instructors for whom we have specifically purchased gear to support their classes. For example, some documentary or filmmaking courses require the use of specific high-end cameras and accessories for proper instruction. This includes our Panasonic DVX-100 video camera, our video light kits, glide-cams, shotgun microphone, and more. To gain sponsorship for instructional support gear, visit our "request sponsorship" page and specifically request instructional support gear sponsorship from the drop-down menu for type of sponsorship.
