Technology Refresh Bank: Requirements

TRB loans are made on a first come, first served basis and are non-competitive. Funds are limited and periodically the duration of time between filing an application and receiving a loan can be up to 6 months.

Funds are provided for student computing lab refresh only, which is limited to hardware, software, and computer peripherals.

Under no circumstances shall TRB funding be used for any other purpose, including but not limited to: personnel funding, travel, research expenses, employee workstations, networking infrastructure costs, on-going service costs, or operating expenses.

When making an application the following items are required:
  1. A completed Technology Refresh Bank application .  This application must be signed by the applicant, the department's business manager, and the Dean of the College.
  2. A one-page narrative that describes the function of the lab, the courses that utilize this lab, a description of the student population served by the lab, the number of students the lab serves overall (an estimate is fine), and what impact a refresh will have on student learning in this lab.
  3. A compact disc with photo documentation that shows the lab in its current state from a variety of views. The photos should be at least 640 x 480 and no less than 200 dpi.
  4. An itemized budget that outlines how TRB funds will be used.  When applying for the15% grant, the budget must clearly show that 80% of the computers purchased with TRB funds will be Gateway brand.
After a loan has been awarded the following items are required:
  1. An itemized list of how the funds were expended.  A simple spreadsheet is sufficient so long as it shows the final actual costs and equipment purchased.  FRS reports are also acceptable as long as TRB funds are highlighted and it is clear what equipment what purchased.  The department has until the end of the current fiscal year to provide this information to the TRB administrator.
  2. A compact disc that contains photo documentation that shows the lab in its refreshed state from a variety of views (please try to include views similar to "before" photos).  The photos should be at least 640 x 480 and no less than 200 dpi.
