Gary is the Location Supervisor of the Virtual Reality Annex located in room 337 of the Computer Center. Responsibilities include the day to day management of the lab, shooting, producing and providing VR content to the UA community, ensuring that the U of A campus community is aware of the resources the Annex provides and the supervision of an OSCR student worker. As the Annex provides Gear-To-Go, Mackender is also responsible for checking out gear to students, faculty and staff, maintaining the gear and staying up to date with the technology relevant to the lab. He is a member of OSCR's Service Team and UITS's ComMa Team.

Gary has been with OSCR since it formed in 2004. His skill set includes digital camera technology, ink jet printing, Adobe Photoshop, Bridge and Illustrator, AutoCad Stitcher, VRWorx, Cubic Convertor, Apple Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro.

Gary holds a B.F.A. from the University of Kansas in printmaking and photography. He is also a musician who performs in the Tucson area on a regular basis.
